NWWSM

Mal lustig, mal ernst, oft beides gleichzeitig.
Nur wenn’s wirklich sein muss.

About

Hi, my name is Martin Druml. I’m a Vienna based audio engineer and sound designer with a strong focus on podcast production, post production, and spoken word formats.

My background in audio started as a musician and music producer, which naturally evolved into composing, sound design, and eventually a deep dive into recording, editing, and mixing for professional audio productions. Over the years, my work shifted increasingly toward dialogue driven formats, where clarity, storytelling, and consistency are key.

I studied Audio Engineering and Audio Production at the SAE Institute Vienna, where I built a solid technical foundation in recording, mixing, mastering, film scoring, and game audio. While this broad education shaped my understanding of sound across different media, my professional focus has since moved clearly toward podcasting and long form audio.

Today, I work as an Audio Engineer and Technical Lead in a professional studio environment, where I am responsible for end to end podcast productions. This includes everything from studio setup and recording supervision to editing, mixing, loudness compliant mastering, and developing a consistent sonic identity for podcast series. I regularly work on corporate podcasts, branded formats, sports podcasts, and editorial productions, often handling multiple projects in parallel.

Beyond hands on production, I take care of the technical backbone of the studio: signal flow, studio infrastructure, server and backup systems, and efficient workflows that ensure stable and reliable productions. I also coordinate technical teams, onboard new engineers, and support producers and editors in their daily work, acting as a technical bridge between creative ideas and practical execution.

In addition to client projects, I produce my own podcast, which gives me a creator side perspective on concept development, recording workflows, post production, and publishing. This helps me understand not only the technical requirements, but also the creative and organizational challenges behind successful podcast formats.

I’m passionate about clean dialogue, well structured workflows, and audio that serves the content. Whether it’s a single episode or a long running series, my goal is always the same: reliable production, high audio quality, and a sound that feels natural, focused, and professional.

Sound Design

Good sound design can change the way you feel about things, it`s the glue between feeling immersed in a picture or feeling nothing at all.

So better be creative!

  • Audio Postproduction

Dialog and SFX editing for commercials, movies, podcasts, audiobooks, and audio restoration with algorithmic repair software to resolve unwanted sounds and restore damaged files to a suitable condition.

The current versions of software used for post-production are Pro tools 12.0 and Nuendo 11.0.

  • Sound Design

To perfectly combine the image with sound, Martin works with a variety of SFX and Foley samples, merging them with the appropriate composition to create the perfect picture. He creates unique soundscapes and atmospheres to achieve the best possible sound.

It doesn’t matter whether you want a more authentic tone or if you like to get a bit more creative - the head really knows no limits.

  • Mix and Master

Mixing and mastering are the final and most important steps before presenting your work to the world. The processing chain consists exclusively of high-quality software, to ensure a good workflow and to allow more time for creative input. From dirty to clean or loud to dynamic, Martin’s approach to mixing and mastering knows no boundaries. For movies and commercials mixing and mastering is done according to the current loudness standards R128, ATSC/A85. The individual loudness standards of streaming platforms are always taken into account to ensure the optimal ratio for the desired platform.

  • Music Production

Whether he is composing music for games and movies or producing commercial trap and pop beats to gritty sounding dark synth, Martin always strives to create suitable music productions and compositions for the relevant area of demand. To perfectly fit the genre and style of the desired production, he produces, arranges, and edits the compositions accordingly. A variety of software and analog instruments are complemented by a large collection of samples to achieve the best sound quality for each production.
